He is a native of Sub Division
Anandpur sahib ( Distt.RoopNagar )
He came from a humble family,his father was a Primary school teacher
and prominent social worker.
He did his MBBS from Govt. Medical college , Amritsar . He during his
studentship was active in struggle and had a pro people revolutionary ideology , he organized protests
during” Emergency” and was arrested for
participating in agitation in 1977. It was during this agitation he was named
as “Gandhi “ by his fans and friends.
He did his MD in Cardiology from Rajindra Medical college Patiala ,after
he was awarded State award for his service in rural area at Bilaspur area of Rampura Phul sub division while working
with Punjab Govt. as PCMS . It was a
extra ordinary effort of his that he raised a Ten Bed hospital at the Govt.
dispensary with the support of people of area with out any help from Govt..
He has been working for cause of people down trodden and needy.
He had been working in
Cardiology Deptt. At Rajindra hospital , Patiala. While in service here
he even started free checkup for poor and needy. Later on he sought voluntary -
retirement and started a low fee clinic at Patiala. He is highly regarded as a
“messiah “ for poor patients.He never charges any fee from those who do not have money to pay.
He is a dedicated social worker and a great warrior for the cause of
humanity and down-trodden. Earlier he was associated with Association for
Democratic rights, where the organization took up cases of harassment and
exploitation of the poor and suppressed.
He is actively involved with
many social organizations in state. He
had been working with National Volunteers Group ( NVG ) of Railway employees of
DMW Patiala. Where he is life President of the organisating. This group has been
organizing various welfare activities like blood Donation camps, AIDS awareness
programme, Medical checkup, environment awareness activities, anti drug
programmes since 1991.
He actively participated in
Anna Movement , he spearheaded the India
Against Corruption movement at Patiala and would sit in dharna, closing his clinic. Now he has been nominated
for Lok Sabha seat from Patiala by Aam Aadmi Party, Patiala citizens and voters
should feel proud of this fact that he
is to represent Patiala.We hope our future is safe in his hands. We the people of Patiala salute him for his services.
